Alana Flexman
Scientist, MD, MBA(C), FRCPC
Dr. Alana Flexman is an anesthesiologist, researcher, and evidence-based medicine enthusiast. She believes our health system is ripe for disruptive innovation supported by cutting-edge research. Dr. Flexman values curiosity, embraces inclusive leadership, and enjoys working collaboratively with others to tackle new challenges and achieve goals.

Dr. Flexman completed her medical training at the University of Toronto, anesthesia training at the University of British Columba, followed by a fellowship in neuroanesthesia/research at the University of California San Francisco. She holds several national and international leadership positions in her medical specialty, including as associate editor on journal editorial boards and President-Elect for the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care. She practices anesthesiology at Providence Health Care, and serves as the Director of Research for the Department of Anesthesiology. Her research focuses on perioperative neurologic outcomes, including perioperative stroke, with a parallel research program on equity in medicine. Dr. Flexman she is currently completing a Global Executive MBA at the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto, with a focus on health care and life sciences.
