Dr. Karim’s current research focuses on causal inference and observational data analyses, in both cross-sectional and longitudinal studies. His role as a biostatistician in several multiple sclerosis-specific research projects has played an important role in the publication of a number of articles in journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Clinical Immunology, and European Journal of Neurology. One of those articles, published in JAMA, has gained a lot of interest in its field and in the popular media.

Dr. Karim’s research has been published in the American Journal of Epidemiology (AJE), Statistical Methods in Medical Research, Statistics in Biosciences, Communications in Statistics – Simulation and Computation, and other journals. AJE selected one of his first-authored papers as one of its top 10 articles for the year 2014. Journals such as BMJ and AJE have invited Dr. Karim to write editorials and commentaries. In 2015, he was named one of the best reviewers for the journal Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety.
