Yiwei is an MSc student in Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia, where she works with Dr. Eugenia Oviedo-Joekes on the Program of Outcomes Research on Treatment with Injectables for Addiction (PORTIA). With a background in sociology focusing on computational social science and big data, Yiwei brings an interdisciplinary approach to public health. Her current interest focuses on understanding the social determinants of mental health and the disparities in access to mental health services. She aims to use quantitative, data-driven methods to gain insights into public health issues and enhance mental health outcomes for marginalized and vulnerable communities. Outside of academia, Yiwei is a cinephile and theatre lover who enjoys exploring Vancouver’s vibrant film scene.
